Donna Hay’s Raspberry Cake Donna Hay is one of my favourite chefs. Her recipes, for the most part, end up tasting really, really good and are easy to make. In general, I find presentation the hardest thing to master, but that also depends on the recipe. I’ve made this raspberry cake at least eight times now, and could easily eat the whole cake to myself…though I have yet to actually do...

the main event: main street dining for the food... →
Until this Sunday, January 24th, some Main Street restaurants are offering three-course tasting menus for set prices of $25, $35 and $45. All restaurants will join the fight against hunger by donating a percentage of their food receipts to The Greater Vancouver Food Bank. I went to eight ½ tonight with a friend, and it was pretty tasty. Great coffee too.

an environmentally friendly bulk food store
Unpackaged is a London boutique grocery store, which started out as a market stall. It works like the bulk food section of your local store (they have a great selection of items), but they rely on customers to bring in their own packaging/containers. They’ve received a fair bit of press, and deservingly so. The process goes like this. These are the sort of shops we need in Vancouver!
